The Franklin County Soil & Water Conservation District provides information about soil, water and related natural resources conservation; identify and prioritize local soil and water resource concerns; and connect land users to sources of education, technical and financial assistance to implement conservation practices and technologies.
The Franklin County SWCD has a 10ft Great Plains no-till drill for rent to landowners/producers. The drill is for planting soybeans 7 small grains. Minimum size tractor recommended is 80 horsepower; it has pioneer hydraulic tips, 1 inch bubble coulters, 10ft planting width, 8 inch row spacing, double press wheels and 12 1/2 ft transport width. The 7ft Great Plains no-till drill for rent is for planting Warm-Season-Grasses. Minimum size tractor recommended is 60 horsepower; it has pioneer hydraulic tips, 7ft planting width, 8 inch row spacing, bubble coulters, single press wheel and 9 ½ ft transport width.
The cost to renting the no-till drills is $10/acre with a $50 minimum charge.
